WW2 USMC ( NAMED ) Set P41 Haversack and P2 Canteen Cover with Canteen and Cup.

$450.00

A very rare named set in excellent condition.

A WWII USMC M1941 Early Named Canteen Cover "P2" with "Lift-the-Dot" SNAPS and the "high" mounted attachment tab with the USMC-specific M1910 belt hook. Inside the cover is a WW1 canteen ( unmarked ) with Cup, both original to the cover.

A un-issued condition US WWII USMC upper pack (haversack), complete with all straps, buckles, strap tips, grommets, etc. This is the first model of haversack (upper pack of the USMC WWII M41 pack system), created in about September 1941, with two flaps on the side rather than extended throat. This pack was probably made under contract NOm36773, issued to the Boyt Harness Company of Des Moines, Iowa in the amount of $255,000 in July, 1942, for the production of 50,000 packs. This was the first model of pack (M41) made by Boyt. It featured sewn straps rather than riveted (as was the case for Depot-made packs which had rivets that would tear through the fabric), and had two flaps on each side to secure articles inside and provide some degree of weather-proofing.

A fantastic hard to find named set ( impossible to upgrade) that would make a great center piece to any USMC Pacific Theater collection. Also perfect to display on a mannequin.
