A very hard to find collectors item made by Wilkinson Sword in 1972 to commemorate the iconic Fairbairn Sykes Commando Knife of WWII. This knife is number 83 of only 500 units released in the United Kingdom and Canada. The number 83 is also etched into the blade. The knife measures 11 1/2” overall with a 6 7/8” doubled edged polished steel blade. The blade remains bright, unsharpened and is etched “1940-1945” along the center-spine and Wilkinsion Sword Queen Elizabeth II Her Majesty logo on the ricasso on one side and the opposite is etched “UNITED WE CONQUER” along the center-spine. The cross guard and grooved handle retain all their bright 18 karat gold plate. The knife is housed in a hinged green presentation case with a green velvet interior. The white interior of lid lists battle honors and military decorations awarded to commandos, the top of lid has gold embossed Wilkinson Sword crossed sword logo above “COMMANDO” in half moon patch outline above “1940-1945”. The certificate of authenticity is numbered to the knife. A lovely and attractive Wilkinson dagger in mint like new condition.
